Animals push through the wide opening to leave, but cannot find their way back in through the narrow end. The smooth polycarbonate interior prevents bats from gripping the walls to crawl back inside. When mounted at a downward angle, gravity works against re-entry too. It is simple physics, field-tested over six years by wildlife control professionals.The Pro-Cone works for bats, flying squirrels, red squirrels, chipmunks, and similar-sized wildlife. The opening tapers from 2-1/4" to 1-1/2". It is NOT designed for mice (too small) or gray squirrels (too large and strong - they will push their way back through). Know your pest before you buy.Installation is straightforward: Mount over the entry point at a downward angle using staples, screws, or silicone caulk. Seal the edges with copper mesh or foam backer rod. Leave in place for a minimum of 3-5 days - longer for larger colonies - to ensure all animals have exited. Then remove the cone and seal the hole permanently.Important: Do NOT install during bat birthing season. Baby bats cannot fly and will be trapped inside.
